ECSU COMPLETES 2008 HOMESTAND WITH THREE SET SWEEP OF PEACE COLLEGE
Oct. 30, 2008
ELIZABETH CITY, NC- In their final home game of the 2008 season, freshman outside hitter Chelsea Amick posted game highs of 11 kills and 12 digs to lead the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings past Peace College 25-15, 25-9, 25-20 Thursday evening at the RL Vaughan Center. ECSU extended the school record for wins in a season to 25 games with the win over the Lady Pacers (14-15). When the two teams faced off on September 16 in Raleigh, the upstart Lady Pacers rallied from two sets down before falling in five sets to ECSU. However any plans of a repeat of last month's match was quickly disseminated as the Lady Vikings committed only five hitting errors over the three sets and defensively shut down the Pacer attack with an astounding 22 assisted blocks (13.0 team total). ECSU also held a +11 edge in digs 45-34. Kelli Woodard led Peace with a team high 8 kills. The Lady Vikings (25-9) will play their final match of the 2008 regular season when they travel to Virginia State University on Saturday November 1. Game time is scheduled for 12 noon.
