ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team clinched the 2008 CIAA Eastern Division Championship with a three set sweep of the Virginia Union University Lady Panthers (25-12, 25-12, 25-20) Tuesday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

ECSU has now captured back-to-back (2007, 2008) divisional crowns, the only two in school history. They also continue to increase their school record for wins in a season (24) and with one conference opponent remaining in the regular season they have not lost a CIAA match this year.

ECSU (24-9 overall, CIAA 12-0) will hold their final home game of the season on Thursday at 6:00pm when they host Peace College in a non-conference volleyball match. They will then travel to Virginia State on Saturday November 1st to wrap up the regular season before entering the CIAA Volleyball Tournament November 7-9 in Hampton, VA.
