ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs improved to 15-7 overall and 12-2 in CIAA play with a doubleheader sweep (9-0, 24-0) over Elizabeth City State University Friday afternoon.

Bowie State took game one 9-0 via 11 hits and 5 Lady Viking errors. The Lady Bulldogs scored in each inning except the 2nd and defensively committed no errors. In five innings of work junior pitcher Jillian Willey earned the 3-hit shutout allowing only two walks while striking out five. Willey improves to 6-4 on the year.

In game two, the Lady Bulldogs exploded for 18 hits in a 24-0 victory. Tiffany Toney and Tricia Corbin both drove in 5 runs each while three other Lady Bulldogs totaled 3 RBI apiece. The 24-point loss marks the Lady Viking worse defeat of the season.

ECSU (7-13, CIAA 7-7) will look to rebound on Saturday, April 7th as they play host to Johnson C. Smith University. The first pitch is slated to be thrown at 1:00pm on the ECSU softball field. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
