ECSU NOTCHES FIRST WIN OF THE YEAR WITH 12-0 WIN OVER SAINT AUGUSTINE'S

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Viking softball team finally broke into the win column with a 12-0 shutout of Saint Augustine's College Thursday afternoon. After some early season struggles, the Lady Vikings got their offense going against the Lady Falcons, scoring 12 runs on 10 hits. With the score 1-0 in favor of ECSU in the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Lady Vikings exploded for 11 runs to put the game out of reach. Senior third baseman Nickesha Neal got all three of her RBIs in that inning with a bases clearing double while Shaneetha Holley added another 4 runs batted in. To their detriment the Lady Falcons committed 5 errors in the game against zero for ECSU. With the loss, Saint Augustine's falls to 2-10 overall and 2-6 in the CIAA. ECSU's record now stands at 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference. The two teams will play game two of their CIAA doubleheader at approximately 2:30pm.
