LADY VIKING BOWLERS IN THIRD PLACE AFTER TWO DAYS AT EASTERN DIVISION MEET

LAUREL, MD-After two days of competition, the Elizabeth City State University bowling team sits in third place overall at the first CIAA Eastern Division meet of the 2007 season. On day one the Lady Vikings posted a 4-1 record, good enough for second place behind the two-time defending CIAA Champions from Bowie State University who put forth a 5-0 record. The Lady Bulldogs racked up 4,637 scratch pins, followed by ECSU (4,148), St. Paul's (4,311), Virginia State (3,736) and Virginia Union (2,208). The Lady Vikings were paced by scratch games of 203 and 198 from Jihan Cleveland and Jessica Dunn, respectively while Affa-Shawntae McCray notched the highest individual pin total of day one with 904 in five games, an average of 180. At the conclusion of Saturday's games, second place was relinquished to Saint Paul's College as the Lady Tigers posted a 4-1 record to edge ECSU with a 3-2 mark. Thus both teams are tied at 7-3 overall while Bowie State remained unblemished at a perfect 10-0 over the two-day span. Heading into Sunday's finale the pin totals are Bowie State at 9,015 scratch pins followed by Saint Paul's (8,352) and ECSU (8,299). Virginia State and Virginia Union round out the Eastern Division teams with 7,348 and 4,637, respectively. Senior Monique Francois has the highest two-day pin total for ECSU with 1,770.
