ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings won their fifth straight game Tuesday night with an 81-68 victory over North Carolina Central University.

Although they were out-rebounded 52-44, the Lady Vikings led the game from start to finish. After holding a commanding 17-point lead at the intermission (45-28) the Lady Vikings were outscored 27-11 over the first 10 minutes of the second stanza. With their once comfortable lead trimmed to one point (56-55), ECSU mustered a run 12-0 of their own, holding NCCU scoreless for almost five minutes. A three-pointer by NCCU's Jennifer Hukill at the 5:17 mark broke the Lady Eagle drought and would bring the lead to single digits for the final time. The score remained 67-58 for nearly three minutes before a lay-up by Celeste Trahan pushed the lead back to double digits with 3:36 to play.

Jori Nwachukwu led all scorers with a game high 26 points along with 14 rebounds. Cassie King chipped in with 12 points as the Lady Eagles slip to 3-3 overall, 1-1 in the CIAA.

Celeste Trahan was ECSU's leading scorer with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Tiffany Smith netted 16 points followed by Deanna Price's 15 points and six steals. Ashley Bowman contributed 10 points off the bench.

The Lady Vikings (5-2, CIAA 3-0) will return to action on Saturday, December 16th when they will face Johnson C. Smith for the final time in the regular season. Game time is slated for 5:30pm at the RL Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU, Athletics visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
