RICHMOND, VA- Elizabeth City State sophomore guard Joyce Freeman scored a career high 20 points in the Lady Vikings' 65-58 loss to Virginia Union University Thursday evening at Barco-Stevens Hall.

The Lady Panthers improve to 3-22 on the season and earn the series sweep over ECSU for 2007-2008. Three Lady Panthers netted double figures with All-CIAA forward Katchona Johnson leading the way with a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds. Ashley Hill added 15 points while Keisha Futrell added 13.

The Lady Vikings held an 8-point advantage with 9:07 remaining but suffered through a five minute scoring drought where they were outscored 15-3 allowing the Lady Panthers to take a 59-58 lead with 1:24 left to play. ECSU did not score again from the field while Virginia Union went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the win. Joyce Freeman scored a career high 20 points while senior Christina Hager also netted a career best 19 points.
