TRAHAN NETS CAREER HIGH 36 POINTS AS LADY VIKINGS RALLY PAST MOUNT OLIVE COLLEGE 75-69

Mount Olive, NC- Senior All-American Celeste Trahan scored a career high 36 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings defeated Mount Olive College 75-69 at Kornegay Arena. Trahan, who has collected a double-double in all ten games this season, scored 25 points in the second half and during one stretch score 19 consecutive points in the six point win. The only Lady Viking in double figures she was also 14-for 15 from the free throw line, had two assists, two steals and three blocks in the contest. Her career double-double count now stands at 72. ECSU trailed by ten points twice in the first half but closed the first stanza on a 10-5 run capped by an April Whitaker three-pointer as time expired to bring the Lady Vikings within five (35-30) at the intermission. In the second half, Trahan's 19 consecutive point outburst along with big baskets from Whitney Stokes and Christina Hager made for a see-saw affair with four ties over the final seven minutes of play. Back-to-back baskets by Hager at the 3:54 and 3:00 marks represented the Lady Vikings final scores from the field as Trahan, Cheniece Arthur and Courtney Scott went 11-12 from the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the win for ECSU. Mount Olive (5-5) was paced by Lakeisha Monroe with a team high 24 points. The Lady Vikings (6-4) will host Shaw University on Tuesday, January 8th for their first CIAA match-up of 2008.
