VIKING GOLF FINISHES FOURTH OVERALL AT CIAA WESTERN DIVISON CHAMPIONSHIP
March 15, 2006 LOUISBURG, NC- Elizabeth City State sophomore Dustin Boothe finished fourth overall, helping the Vikings to fourth place as a team to wrap up the Western Division Championship Golf Tournament Tuesday at the Bulls Creek Golf Course. The nine-team field had to battle the elements on the final day's competition as gusty winds made the course even more difficult to navigate. As a team the Vikings finished with a two-day total of 712. The Eagles of NC Central came from 7-strokes behind Fayetteville State to win the tournament. With the win, the Eagles hand the Broncos their first loss ever at the Western Division Tournament. The event had been dominated by Fayetteville State since in began back in 1998. NC Central shot a 317 to 330 for Fayetteville to win the event by six strokes 625-631. Topping the individual leaders was Johnson C. Smith's Enobong Udo who finished with a two-day low of 147. Dustin Boothe finished with a team best two-day total of 158 as he was the on Viking to place in the top ten. The Vikings will return to action April 9-11at the 2006 CIAA Eastern Division Tournament at the Glenwood Golf Club in Richmond, VA. The event will be hosted by Virginia Union University.
