Jones Named CIAA Defensive Back of the Week for the Third Time This Season

HAMPTON, VA- Two members of the Elizabeth City State University football team have been named CIAA Players of the Week as released by the conference office Monday afternoon.

DeWitt Dixon, a freshman who hails from Charlotte, NC, has been named the CIAA Defensive Lineman of the Week. In the Vikings' game against Wingate University on Saturday, Dixon tallied 9 tackles (3 solo, 6 assisted) and recorded a sack for a loss of a yard.

For the third consecutive week, senior Rod Jones has been named the CIAA Defensive Back of the Week. Jones, who leads the CIAA in tackles, totaled a game high 13 (7 solo, 6 assisted) and forced a fumble in Saturday's game against Wingate.
