HILLIARD, WALKER EARN CIAA PLAYER, COACH HONORS

HAMPTON, VA- Anthony Hilliard and Shawn Walker have been named CIAA Player and Coach of the Week as released by the CIAA Office Monday afternoon. Now in his seventh season as the Vikings' head coach, Shawn Walker has been named Coach of the Week after guiding ECSU to an 81-74 double overtime win over defending CIAA Champion Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte. They also won the 2008 Fresh Coast Classic Championship in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with victories over Central State (OH) in overtime 74-73 and Morehouse College 68-65. The Vikings are off to a 5-0 start for the first time in Walker's tenure as coach at ECSU Senior guard Anthony Hilliard continues to maintain his Player of the Year form, posting two double-doubles last week, to bring his career total to 41. He scored 24 points in the Vikings' double overtime win over defending CIAA champion Johnson C. Smith and tallied 25 points and 11 rebounds against Central State in a 74-73 overtime win. He earned MVP honors at the Fresh Coast Classic in Milwaukee, WI after a 33 point 13 rebound performance in the championship game win over Morehouse College.
