HILLIARD, WALKER RECEIVE WEEKLY CONFERENCE HONORS
Jan. 28, 2008
HAMPTON, VA-Two members of the Elizabeth City State University men's basketball team have been honored by the CIAA as released by the conference office this afternoon. For the second week in a row, junior guard/forward Anthony Hilliard has been named CIAA Player of the Week. He posted three double-doubles in wins over Chowan, Saint Paul's and Virginia Union to bring his career total to 31. He now leads the CIAA in both scoring and rebounding and is the only men's basketball player averaging a double-double in the conference. Shawn Walker led ECSU to a 3-0 record last week, picking up road wins at Chowan and Saint Paul's and then defeated Virginia Union in a nationally televised game to push their record at home to a perfect 7-0. The Vikings have won five straight and nine of their last eleven games and are off to their best start under Coach Walker at 12-4 overall. This is Walker's third Coach of the Week honor this season. ECSU will return to action at the R.L. Vaughan Center on Tuesday, January 29 as they play host to Bowie State University. The game is scheduled for a 7:30pm tip off.
