ECSU VIKINGS SQUEEZE BY VIRGINIA STATE TROJANS 73-66

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State Vikings extended their win streak to thirteen games with a 73-66 win over Virginia State University Sunday afternoon at the R.L. Vaughan Center. The win gives the Vikings their first 20-win season since 1998-99. After trailing 41-36 at the intermission and the first ten minutes of the second half, ECSU finally went in front for good on two made free throws by Anthony Butler with 9:28 remaining. Butler led all scorers with 18 points while Anthony Hilliard, who spent a good portion of the second half at the point, tallied a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds along with four assists and two blocks. The Trojans (8-17 CIAA 6-10) had four in double figures with Jamar Fleming leading the way with 17 points. The Vikings (20-4) will return to action on Tuesday, February 19 as they travel to Bowie State University. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
