Vikings/Bears To Face Off For the Fifth Time This Season At 1:00 P.M. Thursday

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Viking baseball team will begin play at the 2006 CIAA Baseball Tournament at 1:00pm Thursday afternoon in Petersburg, VA.

The #2 seeded Vikings, who finished the regular season at 20-12 overall (CIAA 11-5), will square off against the #3Shaw University Bears at Whaley Colbert Field on the Virginia State University campus. The Bears and Vikings met in CIAA doubleheaders twice this season, once in Raleigh, once in Elizabeth City. Both teams defended their home turf with Bears sweeping the Vikings on March 25th 12-2 and 7-6. This past Saturday, April 15 the Vikings returned the favor defeating Shaw 12-3 and 6-5.

The other tournament participants, the #1Virginia State University Trojans and the #4 Saint Augustine's College Falcons, kick off the 2006 Baseball Tournament at 10:00am. The winners the first two games will advance to play on Friday while the two losers face off at 4:00pm in an attempt to stay alive in the double elimination tournament.
