Freshman Outfielder Receives Top Rookie Honor for 2008 Baseball Season

HAMPTON, VA- Freshman outfielder Billy Kellum has been named the 2008 CIAA Baseball Rookie of the Year as voted by the CIAA Baseball Coaches Association.

This season Kellum, a native of Jacksonville, NC, started all 33 games for the Vikings. He leads the team with 17 doubles and ranks fifth in batting average at .345. He is also tied at third in hits with 39 on the year and boasts a fielding average of .960.

Kellum and the 2008 CIAA All-Rookie Team will be honored at the Baseball Social on Wednesday in Petersburg.
