Officials Call Game After Rain Descends Between Third And Fourth Inning

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The baseball game between Elizabeth City State University and Shaw University was called after three complete innings Monday afternoon.

Just before the start of the fourth inning a torrential downpour halted play for the rest of the day. The Vikings got out o an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on back to back home runs by Carlos Gutierrez and Ivan Laney. In the bottom of the third inning the Vikings wound add five more runs, including another homer by Laney, before the game was called. When a new date is decided upon, the Bears and Vikings will resume play in the top of the fourth inning.
