ELIZABETH CITY, NC- In a contest that took just one hour and fourteen minutes to complete, the Elizabeth City State University Vikings defeated the Saint Augustine's College Falcons 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at Holmes Field.

After being blanked for the first three innings, the Vikings returned the favor allowing only one hit over the final five innings while not allowing the Falcons to cross home plate again. In the 4th inning with the score 1-0 in favor of Saint Augustine's, a John Wilson groundout to the short stop scored Nick Raynor to tie the game. Then a RBI single by Rasheed Bradshaw scored Carlos Gutierrez to give the Vikings the go ahead score at 2-1. In the 5th a sacrifice fly by Raynor gave ECSU a 3-1 advantage and the home team would add three more runs in their final at bat to close out the game. Rod Humphrey, who struck out four, went the distance, improving to 4-2 as a starter this season.
