Final Stats

RALEIGH, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Viking baseball team held off a late rally to defeat the Saint Augustine's College 13-9 in game two of the CIAA doubleheader on Friday afternoon.

ECSU would have a 9-3 advantage heading into the bottom of the 5th inning. With two outs against them, Saint Augustine's scored three runs to pull within three. The Vikings added a run in the 6th only to have the Falcons answer with three runs of their own in their half of the inning. Fortunately for ECSU, a Falcon error in the top of the 7th inning gave the Vikings three insurance runs to close out the game. As in the game one victory John Wilson topped ECSU with 3RBIs and a sacrifice on 1-for-3 at the plate. The Vikings improve to 12-11 overall and 3-4 in CIAA play.

ECSU will return to action on Monday, April 3, 2006 as they will play host to Shaw University. Game time is slated for 1:00pm at Knobbs Creek in Elizabeth City, NC. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
